Support New Police Chief

Mission Beach Women's Club Fundraiser

City of San Diego Coastal Resilience Master Plan

Monday, April 29, at 6pm the City Council will hold a public hearing for the purpose of seeking community comments on the Police Chief appointment.

As you may know, on March 21, 2024, Mayor Todd Gloria appointed San Diego Police Department Assistant Chief Scott Wahl as San Diego’s next Police Chief. However, Mayor Gloria's appointment must be confirmed with a vote by the City Council and we need your help in showing support for Chief Wahl's confirmation.

Please write a note of support for Scott Wahl as the next Chief of Police. You can accomplish this by sending an email to City Councilmembers directly at the email addresses listed here or by submitting your message of support to this webform. (For webform "Comment Type" select "Agenda Comment/Closed Session Comment" and put 1 for "Agenda Item Number").

You may also attend in person at San Diego City Council Chambers, 202 C Street, 12th floor

Please find a sample message here that you can use but feel free to customize it or write your own. Please submit your messages of support by 8am on Monday, April 29 so that the City Council has time to review them before the meeting.

Coastal Resilience Master Plan

The City Planning Department is developing a Coastal Resilience Master Plan to mitigate risk from sea level rise, protect and enhance habitat and support access to the coast and recreational opportunities.

The plan includes development of nature-based, design solutions for six locations along the coast. Nature-based solutions are projects or approaches that mimic or are designed after natural ecosystems and processes. These types of projects provide social, economic and environmental benefits to communities.

Community feedback on the preliminary designs for each of these locations will be gathered at the following pop-up events:

·         April 13 - Tourmaline Beach from 9 a.m. - noon.

·         April 20 - EarthFest from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

·         April 22 - Valencia Park/Malcom X Branch Library from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

·         April 25 - Tourmaline Beach from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

·         April 27 - Sunset Cliffs at Ladera Boulevard from 9 a.m. - noon.

·         May 11 - La Jolla Shores Park from 9 a.m. - noon.

·         May 25 - Belmont Park at Mission Beach from 9 a.m. - noon.

An online survey and community webinar will be hosted later this spring to provide additional opportunities to learn more about this project and provide feedback.
