Second Summer Trash Pick Up -
The City expects passage of Measure B which will start charging property owners throughout the city for trash pick up. The passage of this measure means the Second Summer Trash Pick Up in Mission Beach can no longer be funded through the Environmental Services budget.
Where Does That Leave Us...
The city will provide a second pick up starting Saturday May 31st continuing through the end of fiscal year 2025 so I believe the last currently scheduled second pick will be on Saturday June 28th.
What Happens Then...
Starting with Fiscal Year 2026 (begins July 1) a second summer may be possible but it has to be funded through the city's general fund. The city's 2026 budget is in the process of being finalized and Councilmember Campbell's office is working with the Mayor's office in an attempt to obtain the needed $70,000.00 to fund the second trash pick up, so keep your fingers crossed. We will update you as soon as more information is available.
Beginning on May 28, the City's Stormwater Department will street sweep nearly every alley in North and South Mission every Wednesday to help improve water quality by reducing pollution that could reach the bay and ocean.
Protest the Measure B Trash Fee - If more than 50% of property owners mail in the required Protest Form the city cannot enact the proposed fee for trash pick up. If you are a property owner and do not mail in the form your non-response will be counted as a yes, you want to be charged for trash pick up. FORMS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE CITY CLERK NO LATER THAN JUNE 9TH. If you did not receive the form you may use the below link to print one out to mail,
Only mailed in protest forms will be counted
