Mission Beach Sea Wall Restoration - On Thursday April 16th the Mission Bay Parks Improvement Program PEIR (pre environmental impact report) will be presented to the Environment Committee of the City Council. The Mission Beach Sea Wall restoration project is part of this report. This is just one step in many of the process to begin restoration of the sea wall. Funding and a timetable for restoration are yet to be determined.

Following the city council hearing, The Mission Bay Improvement Fund Oversight Committee will consider funding several projects in the PEIR at its May meeting. They will also see a 5 year plan for funding projects, many of which are in the PEIR. Once a PEIR project is funded to continue design, they will undergo design work to create construction plans, plan check, permitting including coastal development permit, and any related items. So the PEIR is the first step to getting many projects underway with priority going to water quality, wetlands, shoreline treatments, habitat restoration, and similar projects per the prioritization of projects identified in City Charter section 55.2. The fund oversight committee will meet on Tuesday May 1st at 6:00 PM in the Santa Clara Rec Center in Mission Beach. Residents are encouraged to attend to ask for priority in restoring the Mission Beach sea wall.
