Potential Flooding in Mission Beach - Be Ready

This is a letter from the mayor's office dated 10/8/26:
San Diego is expected to experience very high tides along the coast from today through Tuesday, October 13. These high tides may result in temporary flooding in low-lying coastal areas, including Mission Beach, Midway, and other locations that have historically experienced impacts during high-tide events.
Additionally, the National Weather Service is closely monitoring the potential impacts of Hurricane Rachel as it moves across the Pacific. Please remain prepared, as rain is expected over the weekend and into early next week.
Given that many of your homes, businesses, and community spaces are located along or near our beaches, boardwalks, and coastal areas, I wanted to make sure you have the latest information and resources available to help you prepare.
For residents and property owners who may need them, unfilled sandbags are available for Council District 1 and 2 at:
Council District 1 - Pacific Beach Recreation Center, 1405 Diamond St.
Council District 2 (inland) - North Clairemont Recreation Center, 4421 Bannock Ave.
Council District 2 (coastal) - Robb Field Athletic Area, 2525 Bacon St.
Please remember that sandbags are intended to help protect against localized flooding and should be filled and placed in advance if you anticipate needing them.
As we head into the weekend, I encourage everyone in coastal areas to monitor weather and ocean conditions, secure outdoor items that could be impacted by strong winds or surf.
Conditions can change quickly, so please continue to follow updates and guidance from the National Weather Service and other local emergency management agencies.
