The San Diego Police Department's Neighborhood Policing Division invites you to an informational meeting about enforcing the Vehicle Habitation Ordinance (VHO) and Oversized Vehicle Ordinance (OVO) in coastal communities.
Date: Thursday, August 21
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Liberty Station Conference Center
(2600 Laning Rd, San Diego, CA 92106)
In May, the City opened its fifth Safe Parking site, which accommodates oversized vehicles. As a result, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) increased its parking enforcement in the beach communities, specifically targeting violations of the Oversized Vehicle Ordinance. This has led to a significant reduction in the number of oversized vehicles.
The Neighborhood Policing Division of the San Diego Police Department will lead a discussion that includes a presentation on the enforcement efforts related to the Vehicle Habitation Ordinance (VHO) and the Oversized Vehicle Ordinance (OVO). This will be followed by a Q&A session to address any questions or concerns from the community.
Please RSVP using the link below to confirm seating and materials:
If you have specific questions for the meeting, please submit them in the RSVP form to help prioritize key topics.
For example:
How will your enforcement address the following issues?
With the number of OVs on our streets far exceeding the available Safe Lot spots, how can enforcement effectively address illegal OV parking?
When I report an oversized vehicle (OV) parked on the street overnight to Get It Done, there is often no action taken for days or even weeks, if it is addressed at all.
Some oversized vehicles move every few days to evade enforcement.
ILLEGAL BEACH FIRES - If you see illegal beach fires (any wood fire that is not in a city provided fire ring) please report it on the Get It Done App. Doing so will help establish a record of the number of illegal fires.
