Here's the email from the City with additional information:
As part of the City's ongoing storm preparedness efforts, we wanted to share an upcoming opportunity for residents to obtain free, pre-filled sandbags.
We encourage you to share this information with your neighbors and businesses, particularly those in flood-prone areas. Given distribution locations are limited, helping spread awareness of these resources with those near previously impacted areas is an important part of our collective preparedness efforts.
Thanks to the generous support of organizations like Associated General Contractors of San Diego, AMR and Cal Coast Credit Union, the City of San Diego will be distributing filled sandbags on the following dates and locations.
Saturdays: October 24, October 31, November 7 and November 14
Time: 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., or while supplies last
Distribution Locations:
Council District 2: Robb Athletic Field
Council District 4: Encanto Recreation Center
Council District 4: Mountain View – Neal Petties Community Center
Council District 8: Southcrest Recreation Center
Council District 9: City Heights Recreation Center
Each household is limited to 10 pre-filled sandbags. These distributions are intended to help residents take proactive steps to protect their homes and property from potential flooding during the rainy season.
Residents can find additional storm preparedness tips, flood safety information and resources through the City's Stay Ready San Diego: El Niño Preparedness webpage.
